Funny Animation Pictures Biography

1906 J Stuart Blackton is credited with being the first to harness stop-motion film-making to basic animation in what is widely said to be the first animated film: Humorous Phases of Funny Faces. Blackton drew cartoon faces on a blackboard and filmed them, stopping the camera in order to erase one face and draw another, before filming the new drawing.

1917 Quirino Cristiani's satire El ApĆ³stol (The Apostle), thought to be the first full-length animated movie, is released in Argentina. It ran at around 70 minutes and comprised 58,000 frames, but all known copies of the film were lost in a fire in 1926.

1937 Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the first surviving full-length animated movie. It was also the first in colour, and marked the studio's feature-length debut. Disney's wife, Lillian, apparently tried to talk him out of it, saying: "No one's ever gonna pay a dime to see a dwarf picture."

1985 Studio Ghibli is founded in Japan. Its films span female-oriented fantasy (My Neighbour Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service) to tougher subjects, such as second world war drama Grave of the Fireflies and the environmentally themed Pom Poko. The 2001 masterpiece Spirited Away wins an Oscar.

1995 Toy Story, the first entirely computer-generated 3D animation feature, is released; each frame took between four and 13 hours to complete. The toys, textures and locations are dazzling – although human skin and hair, which lag some way behind in the realism stakes, are kept largely out of sight.
The emergence of Dustin Hoffman in 1967 heralded the arrival of a new era of Hollywood stardom. Diminutive, wiry and unassuming, he was anything but the usual matinee idol, yet he quickly distinguished himself among the most popular and celebrated screen performers of his generation. A notoriously difficult talent famous for his battles with directors as well as his total immersion in his performances, Hoffman further battled against stereotypes by accepting roles which cast him firmly as an antihero, often portraying troubled, even tragic figures rarely destined for a happy ending. By extension, he broke new ground for all actors -- not only were stars no longer limited to heroic, larger-than-life characterizations, but in his wake virtually anyone, regardless of their seeming physical limitations, could attain success on the big screen. Born August 8, 1937 in Los Angeles, Hoffman originally studied to become a doctor, but later focused his attentions on acting, performing regularly at the Pasadena Playhouse alongside fellow aspirant Gene Hackman. Upon relocating to New York City, he worked a series of odd jobs, landing the occasional small television role and later touring in summer stock. Frustrated by his lack of greater success, Hoffman once even left acting to teach, but in 1960 he won a role in the off-Broadway production Yes Is for a Very Young Man. After 1961's A Cook for Mr. General, however, he continued to struggle, and did not reappear onstage for several years, in the meantime studying with Lee Strasberg at the Actors' Studio and becoming a dedicated Method actor. Finally, in 1964 Hoffman appeared in a string of theatrical projects including productions of Waiting for Godot and The Dumbwaiter. Two years later he won a Best Actor Obie for his work in The Journey of the Fifth Horse. In 1967 Hoffman made his film debut with a tiny role in the feature The Tiger Makes Out, a similarly brief appearance in Un Dollaro per Sette Vigliachi followed later that same year, as did a highly-acclaimed turn in the theatrical farce Eh? It was here that he was first spotted by director Mike Nichols, who cast him in the lead role in his 1967 black comedy The Graduate. Though 30 at the time of filming, Hoffman was perfectly cast as an alienated college student, and his work won him not only an Oscar nomination but also made him a hugely popular performer with the youth market. His status as a burgeoning counterculture hero was solidified thanks to his work in John Schlesinger's 1969 Academy Award winner Midnight Cowboy, which earned Hoffman a second Oscar bid. While the follow-up, the romance John and Mary, was a disappointment, in 1970 he starred in Arthur Penn's Little Big Man, delivering a superb portrayal of an Indian fighter -- a role which required him to age 100 years. Directed by his longtime friend Ulu Grosbard, 1971's Who Is Harry Kellerman and Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me? was Hoffman's first outright failure. He next starred in Sam Peckinpah's harrowing Straw Dogs, a film which earned harsh criticism during its original release but which, like much of Peckinpah's work, was later the subject of much favorable reassessment. In 1973 Hoffman co-starred with Steve McQueen in the prison drama Papillon, which returned him to the ranks of box-office success before he starred as the legendary stand-up comedian Lenny Bruce in Bob Fosse's 1974 biography Lenny, a stunning portrayal which earned him a third Academy Award nomination. Another real-life figure followed as Hoffman portrayed Carl Bernstein opposite Robert Redford's Bob Woodward in All the President's Men, Alan J. Pakula's riveting docudrama on the Watergate break-in. Next, Hoffman reteamed with director Schlesinger for 1976's Marathon Man, which cast him alongside Laurence Olivier and scored another major hit. The1978 Straight Time, a pet project helmed by Grosbard, was critically acclaimed but a financial disappointment, and 1979's Agatha pleased neither audiences nor the media. The 1979 domestic drama Kramer vs. Kramer, on the other hand, was a major success with both camps, and Hoffman's portrayal of a divorced father finally earned him an Academy Award on his fourth attempt at the prize. He also won a Golden Globe, as well as honors from the New York and Los Angeles critics. Hoffman's next film, the Sydney Pollack-helmed 1982 comedy Tootsie, was even more successful at the box office. Starring as an out-of-work actor who dresses in drag to win a role on a soap opera, he earned yet another Oscar nomination as the film grossed nearly 100 million during its theatrical release. After a long absence, Hoffman returned to the stage in 1984 to portray Willy Loman in a Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman.

QUOTES

"I think what saved me is being honest. I think I somehow had the courage to do something and to say something that I knew would possibly end my career. Instead of making business more important, I made my soul and my life more important. And I think by being truthful, and being honest, that saved me."

– Ellen DeGeneres

Early Life

Ellen Lee DeGeneres was born January 26, 1958, in Metairie, Louisiana, to an insurance salesman and a working mother who divorced when DeGeneres was a teenager. When she was growing up, DeGeneres dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, but she gave up the idea because she was "not book smart." Instead, she waited tables, sold vacuum cleaners, painted houses and worked as a legal secretary.

DeGeneres's older brother, Vance, an actor/comedian and former correspondent for The Daily Show, was long considered the humorous member of the family. Then once, during a public speaking event, DeGeneres found herself frightened by the crowd and used humor to get through the experience. She was a hit, and received offers to do stand-up comedy. She began performing in 1981, bolstered by her mother's moral and financial support.

Stand-up Comedy

At the age of 23, she began performing at a local coffeehouse. She got her big debut in 1986 when, acting on a tip from Jay Leno, The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson sent a booking agent to catch her act at the Improv in Hollywood. As a result of that engagement, DeGeneres was invited onto The Tonight Show and earned the distinction of being the only female comic to be invited by Johnny Carson to sit on the famed "couch" during her first visit. She then began making regular appearances on the talk show circuit, including performances on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Later with Greg Kinnear, Larry King Live, and Good Morning, America. She was also profiled in detail on ABC's PrimeTime Live.

Ellen: The Sitcom

Her wit won over audiences, and DeGeneres finally found success as an actress with her own prime-time sitcom—the self-titled television series, Ellen. The series was originally titled These Friends of Mine, but was renamed in 1994. From that point, she enjoyed a dizzying evolution from its beginnings as an ensemble show to its development into a showcase for DeGeneres.

The show faced strong criticism when, in April 1997, DeGeneres's character became the first lead in sitcom history to openly acknowledge her homosexuality on air. An ABC affiliate in Birmingham, Alabama, refused to air the landmark episode. Fearing controversy, some of the show's sponsors, Daimler Chrysler among them, withdrew advertisements.

Several episodes following her reveal had gay themes and, throughout the remainder of the season, DeGeneres and ABC executives faced a storm of criticism. But the show also received rounds of applause from gay-friendly activists—including DeGeneres's mother, Betty Degeneres, who appeared on numerous talk shows in support of her daughter.
Despite a supportive audience; an Emmy Award for the coming-out episode; and the show's groundbreaking place in television history; Ellen was canceled in 1998.

But DeGeneres had already made the move to the big screen, starring in the dark comedy Mr. Wrong (1996) as a woman in search of the perfect man. She has also appeared in the comedy EdTV (1999), starring Matthew McConaughey,

and the television production of If These Walls Could Talk 2 (2000), in which she shared a much publicized love scene with Sharon Stone.

Ellen: The Talk Show

Returning to television in 2003, Ellen DeGeneres became a big hit with daytime viewers with her self-titled talk show, Ellen. Since its inception, the show has won an Emmy, nearly a dozen Daytime Emmy Awards, and numerous People's Choice Awards.

Also in 2003, DeGeneres lent her voice to the animated box office smash, Finding Nemo. The next year she received two Emmy Award nominations for her stand-up comedy special Ellen DeGeneres: Here and Now.

A unique combination of kind and funny, Ellen DeGeneres has been a popular choice for award show host in recent years. She has hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards twice, and the Academy Awards for the first time in 2007. In September of 2009, Ellen made headlines again when she was chosen to fill the coveted fourth slot as a judge on the ninth season of American Idol. Former judge, Paula Abdul, announced her departure from the show earlier in the year. Show executives had been searching for a replacement for several months.

In addition to her stand-up, film, and television career, Degeneres is also the author of several books, including My Point ... and I Do Have One (1995) and The Funny Thing Is... (2004).

Personal Life

For several years, DeGeneres dated actress Anne Heche and, in 1999, the couple bought a home together in Los Angeles. Although at one point they publicly announced their desire to be married, the couple broke up in August 2000. DeGeneres then dated Alexandra Hedison for a few years before becoming involved with actress Portia de Rossi in December 2004.

DeGeneres married de Rossi on August 16, 2008, in what was perhaps the highest-profile gay marriage after California legalized the unions.

Funny Animals Pictures With Captions Biography

Alex alligator arrived at Allison Arthur's apple farm in April, when the apple trees were covered with blossoms.
"Whatever am I to do with an alligator?" Allison asked.
Inside the box, Alex yawned. Alex stuck his legs through the holes at the bottom of the box and ambled into the house in search of dinner.
"Oh no you don't!" cried Allison. "You cannot live in the house. You are to stay in the stream behind the apple orchard."
Allison put Alex in the small stream. Then Allison put a strong fence around the stream so Alex did not try to eat Mrs. Chory's chickens.
Alex liked the stream and his pen. He especially liked the steaks Allison gave him every morning and evening.
One day in August a red apple fell off a tree and rolled under the fence and into Alex's pen. Alex sniffed it a bit and then took a bite.
It was the most delicious thing Alex had ever eaten. Alex slipped under the fence and ambled into the apple orchard. Alex found a line of baskets sitting under a tree. Alex ate all the apples in the baskets. Then he wandered under another tree and ate all the apples in the baskets he found there. He was very happy. And very full. He went back into his cage.
Allison came by later with his steak. Alex sniffed at it, but he was not very hungry.
"Do you know what someone did Alex?" asked Allison. Alex yawned. "Someone stole all my apples. They knocked over the baskets and stole the apples. If it happens again, I'm calling the police."
That night, Alex had a very pleasant dream about apples. After his steak the next morning, Alex slipped under the fence and out into the orchard. There were a bunch of people climbing up and down ladders with baskets. Alex watched for a few moments. Then he realized that when the people came down the ladders, their baskets were full of apples.
Thanks to the know-it-all from second grade, we're all aware that dolphins and whales are mammals, not fish. But it's probably been a while since you've pondered just how incredibly, mind-blowingly weird it is that you and whales were the same animal more recently than whales and sharks. Or to put it in chart form, you and whales split up somewhere in the big tangle of bio diversity up top labeled "Age of Mammals" while whales and fish haven't been the same animals since way the hell down here where you see the word Selacchi. So how is it that our evolutionary cousins ended up with flippers and fins exactly where fish have them and we ended up needing swimming lessons?

Turns out it's the same reason birds and bats both ended up flying around on wings: convergent evolution, the smarmy term for when completely unrelated species develop similar traits. It happens because, related or not, evolution is going to favor the folks with the best equipment. Here are some critters that prove sometimes evolution is just trying to screw with your head.

One day, Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox and Brer Coon and Brer Bear and a lot of other animals decided to work together to plant a garden full of corn for roasting. They started early in the morning and raked and dug and raked some more, breaking up the hard ground so it would be ready for planting. It was a hot day, and Brer Rabbit got tired mighty quick. But he kept toting off the brush and clearing away the debris 'cause he didn't want no one to call him lazy.

Funny Animal Videos Biography

Are you happy to steal time to see animals funny video on YouTube when she was bored working? This fun hobby seems to have its benefits.

Researchers from Japan, Hiroshi Nittono, recently announced the results of their study with a team of researchers from Hiroshima University. Nittono and his team found that viewing videos or pictures of cute animals, a case of cats, dogs, rabbits, and others, can improve mood and increase productivity.

Huffington Post, Monday (1/10) launch, growing concentration in thinking after seeing the pictures funny. This condition is the result of the interpretation of the concentration of the brain that is triggered by the emotional and systematic processes in the brain.

The reaction is almost the same as when adults see infants or children are cute. In behavior, often without conscious adults should slow down the pace and reduce the volume when talking with a pet. This is what makes a person become more gentle and more concentrated after seeing the animals are adorable.

The results were published in the journal PlusOne titled "The Power of Kawaii: Cute Viewing Images Promotes a Careful Behavior and attentional Narrows Focus". "Kawaii" is derived from the Japanese word meaning cute, like the impression that emerged from cute cats are widely spread in the YouTube video.

Primarily Primates Incorporated, is a non-profit sanctuary in Bexar County, Texas that operates to house, protect, and rehabilitate various non-native animals. The private refuge currently houses several hundred nonhuman animals, and, as the name implies, focuses primarily on caring for apes and monkeys. Many are cast-offs from the pet trade and biomedical research institutions. Individuals who have been accepted into the refuge include chimpanzees once used in space training and testing protocols by the United States Air Force and Oliver, a chimpanzee once paraded on television shows as the "humanzee" due to a habit of walking upright.
Urban foxes have had a bad reputation for a while now. The 'dangerous dogs' de nos jours, if you will.

So we're delighted to hear of a news story that paints our foxy friends in a new, (slightly) more pleasant light.

Yes, behold the fox (not the one in the photo above - that was posed by a model) who stole a woman's handbag in Burgess Hill, West Sussex... only to return it.

“We were in the [estate's] car park and he looked at me for a few seconds before letting out this feeble yelp," Burgess Hill resident Jeremy Clark told The Argus. “Next thing I knew he had my wife’s handbag in his mouth and was running towards the bushes."

But just moments later, reports the paper, the "guilty-looking fox crept back into the car park with his bushy tail between his legs. In his mouth was Anna’s bag which he dropped at her feet before running off."

Of course, what The Argus and Mr Clark fail to mention is that Anna's wallet was missing from her handbag, and the fox was later seen buying drinks for everyone at Mooch@76 bar on Church Walk. Possibly.

Anyway, congratulations, Mr Fox. You really are fantastic, and may have single-pawedly helped to rehabilitate foxes in the eyes of us mere humans.
Draeyk wrote "im curious as to where people are on the pets issue as well since its something ive had a hard time over. i was absolutely against the keeping of pets. animals reared and bred for our own use and benefit. i guess when the're from a shelter its better but isnt it like second hand leather goods? shouldnt we try and close down this industry of exploitation?

i used to argue this at very many animal rights meets... ppl who had dogs running around all over and breeding left, right and centre... that it was irresponsible and counter to an animal rights agenda. "

In my opinion ideally in a utopic Vegan world of the future. NO. We could perhaps eventually develop relationships with other species...but I think it would take a while before we could be trusted to do this.

But in this world. YES. We created the problem and therefore it is our duty to have companion animals to treat them as equals and to respect and honor them. This goes agianst depriving their rights to reproduce. But unfortunately the society being what it is I think it is our responsibility to spay and neuter them too.

That is perhaps the only area in which I do not respect animal rights, but I think that the alternatives caused by our sick and depraved society justify this violation. I agree with you, at least in theory. If the choice we're presently faced with is (a) to release domesticated animals to fend for themselves (most of which would die pretty quickly and painfully), (b) euthanize them or (c) give them homes where they can be safe and fed for the rest of their lives, my ethical compass says "c".

Concurrent with that, it's important to work to eliminate the sources of those animals that need homes. And I would like to see a world where any companion animals were just those who chose to be around humans on their own accord, not those kept by fences and leashes. That's a long way away, tho'.

I do still have deep misgivings about petfood industry. It disturbs me to consider that chickens and other animals are killed to feed our cats. While I realize that cats would naturally hunt birds, I still don't like our meddling in the process. The biggest problem is the massive overpopulation of cats and dogs who are left to fend for themselves in our urban environments - which means they end up getting horrible diseases, suffering, being tortured, murdered, etc., ... and then procreating so the cycle gets worse. I definitely believe that it's part of being an animal rights activist to adopt/foster who we can, to advocate spaying and neutering, and to fight for state-wide laws and actions to make breeding, pet stores, etc., illegal. It's all about reducing suffering.
